A Spring in their Step
Cleary Gottlieb’s “Wiki Madness”
by Carolyn Humpherys

Traveling Coaches is always on the lookout for great stories about how law firms are leveraging technology and innovation to make learning more effective for their user community.

We recently caught up with Lore Moriano, Training Manager at Cleary Gottlieb in New York, who shares with us her firm’s experience with creating a Rollout Wiki. According to Lore, who refers to the end result as “Wiki Madness,” people across the firm really love it and they’ve had wild success. Lore tells us more about it in the paragraphs below:

The ease with which you can broadcast information quickly on a wiki page and the fact that users, too, can contribute, make it a natural venue for trainers to communicate rollout information and for users to provide feedback. Shortly after launching our "rollout wiki" during the pilot stage of our Office 2007 upgrade, the wiki took on a life of its own! Associates, who use wikis daily in conjunction with their practice areas and matters they are collaborating on, immediately started posting comments and feedback.

A "rollout wiki" is a great way for everyone to read about what's coming soon. We created sections for favorite features, training schedules, current issues, and enhancement requests. Under the heading "Using your new computer," we link to flash demos, html documentation, and a quick reference PDF book.

Wikis are a simple and dynamic way to build a community feeling among users.

Kudos to Lore and the team at Cleary Gottlieb! Web 2.0 and social media tools are beginning to reinvent the way we share and communicate information. If you have a story you’d like to tell, send it our way to lwagner@travelingcoaches.com! We’re always happy to brag on our clients and friends for doing something innovative!

Core Values at Work
Integrity
By Brie Stampe

We keep our promises and take responsibility for our actions. We are trustworthy and consistently do the right thing.

Traveling Coaches recently added two talented, driven and highly experienced team members to our company roster. Rex Balboa has come on-board as a User Experience Consultant. In this role, Rex is leveraging his background as an applications integration engineer, project manager, training professional, software developer and overall “smart guy” as he partners with our other “smart people” to deliver tailored and innovative solutions to meet the changing needs of our clients. We’ve known Rex for years as a vendor partner, a client and a friend. And we are thrilled that now he’s part of the TC family. We asked Rex to give us his impression of this month’s spotlight core value, Integrity.

To me, integrity is best described by the bill of rights: Do the right thing, at the right time, with the right people, for the right reasons. As a new employee, I feel Traveling Coaches represents that ideal and I feel fortunate to have joined such a team that values integrity so highly. –Rex Balboa, User Experience Consultant

Donna Bowen came back “home” to Traveling Coaches this past July, after spending a few years away gaining new experiences and building new relationships within the legal technology industry. She returns to us with a wealth of experience in business development and fresh perspective on law firm needs. As Account Executive for the Mid-Atlantic area, Donna works with some of our most strategic clients, crafting innovative and customized plans for technology and education within these firms. We couldn’t be more proud to welcome Donna back “home” to TC. Donna shares her perspective on Integrity and what it means to her as a Traveling Coach.

After being away from Traveling Coaches for several years, I was presented with the opportunity to come back. It was an easy choice. I knew exactly what I was getting into. It felt like a homecoming. This is a very close knit group of talented individuals that chooses to do life together and endures. This type of teamwork and loyalty emerge in the workplace when people trust in the integrity of their leaders and coworkers and believe that the company is directionally on course. I am thankful to have the opportunity to be part of the TC family again. – Donna Bowen, Account Executive
