May 27, 2004: Traveling Coaches, a national provider of IT products and services, announced today that the company has been certified as a Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) by the State of Texas. Traveling Coaches’ HUB certification, in conjunction with its inclusion on the Centralized Master Bidder’s List (CMBL) for Texas, offers the company the opportunity to actively compete for state business opportunities. The State of Texas offers HUB certification to encourage the use of HUBs by state agencies and to assist agencies in achieving these goals through race, ethnic, and gender neutral means. The goal of this program is to promote full and equal business opportunity for all businesses in state contracting. HUB certification increases exposure to bid requests on delegated purchases, open market purchases, term contracts, leases, and construction projects. In order to achieve HUB certification, a company must be a corporation, sole proprietorship, partnership, or joint venture in which at least 51% of the business is owned, operated, and actively controlled and managed by a minority or woman. Traveling Coaches, a Texas corporation and a 100% women-owned business, easily met the State’s requirements for HUB certification. The company’s three principals, Gina Buser, Linda Miller and Charlene Traynor incorporated the company in 1995, and have actively managed its day-to-day operations since that time. In addition to its HUB certification, Traveling Coaches is nationally certified as a Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Women’s Business Council – Southwest (WBCS). Similar to the State’s HUB certification, WBE certification is a valuable tool in accessing corporate supplier diversity programs within corporations and governmental procurement programs on a national level. Gina Buser, Traveling Coaches President and one its three women owners, expressed her thoughts about the company’s recent HUB certification. According to Ms. Buser, “HUB certification opens up many doors of opportunity to work with agencies and institutions throughout Texas. We’re looking forward to building new relationships and expanding our company’s reputation in this sector.” Traveling Coaches, Inc.
