Learning Strategist and Consultant

Traveling Coaches is looking for a senior roll up your sleeves adult learning expert.  The Learning Consultant will work with our clients to guide the development of learning strategies and delivery approach of learning programs, experiences and processes at all levels of the client organization throughout the life cycle of the engagement. The Learning Strategist must be a consultant to the client first and foremost, partnering with client staff and internal team members to develop solutions that meet the defined (and maybe not so defined) learning objectives.

The Learning Strategist also provides thought leadership on the importance of organizational effectiveness, performance management, talent management, change management and knowledge management initiatives in support of identified strategic objectives.  The Learning Strategist has a well-developed Learning “point of view” that they can articulate and apply in a variety of learning situations.

Just the right blend of consultant, communicator, change manager and cheerleader, this highly motivated individual is a key ingredient to developing innovative and engaging learning strategies.   Our clients seek our guidance on effective learning programs for large scale technology changes, new hire on-boarding and talent development programs. Our clients seek minimal disruption in their technology changes and effective talent development programs to ensure employee engagement and retention. 

Equally comfortable in working sessions or executive presentations, this person is able to articulate a best in class adult learning methodology and vision cast its successful integration in the day to day learning functions of a law firm.  Focusing on innovative methods for effective and sustained behavior change, this consultant creates and delivers strategies and actionable plans that engage and develop employees.

Responsibilities

  • Articulate best practices for effective learning strategies and user adoption to a variety of audiences from staff level employees to C-suite

  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive learning strategies to effectively and measurably improve the skills and competencies of lawyers and staff

  • Deliver presentations to law firm executives, CIOs, COOs, Managing Partners, CHROs, directors, trainers and other stakeholders

  • Create engaging educational materials, blogs, articles, seminars and other imaginative communications touch points

  • Organize and conduct user surveys, interviews and focus groups, analyzing and reporting on the collected data

  • Seek and Embrace Change – Continuously improve work processes rather than accepting the status quo

  • Maintain expertise on change management and user adoption as they apply to law firms in enterprise technology and security awareness initiatives in particular

  • Traditional and emerging learning technologies

  • Knowledge of advanced learning experience design (ex. Instructional gaming, peer-to-peer, embedded performance support strategies, etc.)

  • Knowledge of curriculum management and compliance requirements for branch-facing content

  • Thought leader who engages in industry dialog, comfortable researching trending topics, writing blogs and articles and speaking on trending topics 

Experience (3+ years)

  • Manager of organizational change or learning efforts

  • Consultant to law firms or similar professional service organizations

  • Author or contributor of communications and marketing content

  • Data collection and examination, solution identification and articulation, risk analysis and mitigation, value statement and measurement

  • Facilitator of engaging and effective meetings, presentations and education sessions

  • Influencer of behavior without having direct authority

 Preferences

  • Law firm or professional services experience

  • Experience in the professional development of lawyers or executives

  • Experience developing competency models and working in an agile environment

  • Experience in performance consulting or Human Resources

  • Management and consulting experience 

  • Change Management Certification or training (CCMP, ATD, Prosci or similar)

  • Lean Six Sigma 

  • Bachelor or post-graduate degree in Communications, Education, Organizational Psychology, Sociology or Psychology

  • Law degree
